to trust,
to trust in, to have confidence, be confident, to be bold, to be secure,
to cause to trust, make secure, to feel safe, be careless
In
order to enter into the marriage relationship, both the man and the woman must
first be willing to allow the other into the closest deepest places of the
heart. Placing aside all the protective coverings and barriers requires an
unprecedented amount of trust.
Trust is a
difficult issue for all humans. We precariously try to be independent, but as we
live our lives we all begin to realize that we are not designed by Adonai to
survive on our own. We all, at one time or another, will face situations or
seasons of our lives in which we will need help. Fast behind this realization is
another deeper lesson. When we are troubled, we are vulnerable, or weakened. We
realize, too, that any careless person has the potential of severely harming us
during those times. We will need to find someone we can trust. There are
literally millions of stories, all around the world, about pain caused by
betrayed and broken trust. It is, without question, the single greatest
universal weakness in mankind. We simply cannot be trusted.
Our
betrothed, Yeshua, understood, very well, the need to establish and maintain
trust. From Lucifer’s betrayal, to Adams and Eves disobedience, to Judas, our
Adonai has suffered the heartbreak of broken trust by the creatures He has
created and loved. He has carefully, methodically and perfectly worked for
centuries to demonstrate and confirm That He alone is trustworthy.
The Book of Psalms contains 32 verses about trust. This is
the heart of God – that we learn to unconditionally trust in HIM alone. Do not
place the fragile human heart into the care any person.
Only to God
Trust in the LORD and do
good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the
LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the
LORD, rust also in Him, and He will do it. He will bring forth your
righteousness as the light
And your judgment as the
noonday.
Psalm 37:3-6
For our heart rejoice in Him,
Because we trust in His holy name.
Psalm 33:21
Don't put your trust in princes,
each a son of man in whom there is no help.
Psalm 146:3
Woe to her who is rebellious
and defiled, The tyrannical city! She heeded no voice, She accepted no
instruction. She did not trust in the LORD, She did not draw near to her God.
Her princes within her are roaring lions, Her judges are wolves at evening; They
leave nothing for the morning. Her prophets are reckless, treacherous men; Her
priests have profaned the sanctuary. They have done violence to the law. The
LORD is righteous within her; He will do no injustice. Every morning He brings
His justice to light; He does not fail. But the unjust knows no shame.
Zephaniah 3:1-5
The Word of Adonai makes it clear that we cannot really rely on ourselves.
For we do not want you to be
unaware, brethren, of our affliction which came to us in Asia, that we
were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of
life; indeed, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not
trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead;
2 Corinthians 1:8-9
Marriage unites two people who bring both strengths and weaknesses to the
relationship. The bridegroom is understood to be the guide and the power behind
the marriage. The bride is understood to be the coordinator and the facilitator
behind the marriage. Yeshua has always understood that His bride has weaknesses
that He does not. It has never stopped Him from loving her. For His brides sake,
Yeshua was willing to put aside His own comforts and even His own reputation for
the sake of securing her safety and restoring her reputation.
This is the lesson of the gospel. That Yeshua left Kingly
appearances and socialized with sinners for the sake of His bride. Yeshua must
have seemed quite the failure as He hung on the stake and died. He allowed
Himself to appear dirty in sin and weak in the hands of brutal hateful men. But
He did not concern himself with such things. The focus of His loving eyes
never left His bride.
The Bride of Yeshua could trust her heart and her life in His hands.
since you are looking for
proof of the Messiah speaking in me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but he
is powerful among you. For although he was executed on a stake in weakness, now
he lives by God's power. And we too are weak in union with him, but in
dealing with you we will live with him by God's power. Examine yourselves to
see whether you are living the life of trust. Test yourselves. Don't you
realize that Yeshua the Messiah is in you? — unless you fail to pass the test.
But I hope you will realize
that we are not failures. And we pray to God that you will do nothing wrong.
We are not concerned with our appearing successful, but with your doing what
is right,
even if we appear to be
failures.

The
married couple needs a home environment that is a refuge. The home needs to be a
safe place in which both the man and the woman can confide in each other without
risk of undue reaction and without outside interruption or interference. The
security means to live safe from threats both from inside the home and outside.
