Yehovah has been planning the greatest wedding of all time and eternity. Since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, He has worked tirelessly to restore righteousness and goodness to His creation. His plan was simple, but perfect. The answer to the evil problem would be a wedding. The antidote to the poison of sin would require a new life with man as His bride, not simply a creation.
Adonai had had angels all around Him in eternity. He trusted one in particular, as a man would trust a close friend. To this one He gave powers and responsibilities in Heaven like no one else. His name was Lucifer – “the light bearer”. But our Lord was betrayed by this angel, so He cast Lucifer out and took away his title of honor and beauty. The angel became hasatan – the accuser, the betrayer, the destroyer.
For the married couple, their relationship must be developed, nurtured, protected, treasured and sealed. All of these aspects of the marriage have their roots in the covenant itself. Adonai has demonstrated this connection between the relationship and the covenant from the beginning. He teaches us that the relationship in the covenant involves both the heart and the mind.
For Adonai, man was to be a friend, someone who could be trusted. Man was to be a companion with whom He was going to share time and share the joys of His perfect abundance. Sin ruined all that.
Moved with passion and motivated by such a high challenge, our Lord devised a plan. He would develop a relationship with man. He would engage in a courtship, secure a promise, and finalize the relationship in marriage. The impact of this relationship would be the creation of a holy alliance between Adonai and man against His enemy, HaSatan. This new relationship would be built on promises and sealed by a covenant.
There is only one verse in all of Scripture in which we find both of these words together Hebrews 8:6 (notice the word “covenant is used 7 times in this passage)
Here is the whole point of what we have been saying: we do have just such a cohen gadol as has been described. And he does sit at the right hand of HaG'dulah in heaven. There he serves in the Holy Place, that is, in the true Tent of Meeting, the one erected not by human beings but by Adonai. For every cohen gadol is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices; so this cohen gadol too has to have something he can offer. Now if he were on earth, he wouldn't be a cohen at all, since there already are cohanim offering the gifts required by the Torah. But what they are serving is only a copy and shadow of the heavenly original; for when Moshe was about to erect the Tent, God warned him, "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern you were shown on the mountain." But now the work Yeshua has been given to do is far superior to theirs, just as the covenant he mediates is better. For this covenant has been given as Torah on the basis of better promises. Indeed, if the first covenant had not given ground for faultfinding, there would have been no need for a second one. For God does find fault with the people when he says, “‘See! The days are coming,' says Adonai, 'when I will establish over the house of Isra'el and over the house of Y'hudah a new covenant." 'It will not be like the covenant which I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by their hand and led them forth out of the land of Egypt; because they, for their part, did not remain faithful to my covenant; so I, for my part, stopped concerning myself with them,' says Adonai. " 'For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Isra'el after those days,' says Adonai: 'I will put my Torah in their minds and write it on their hearts; I will be their God, and they will be my people." ' None of them will teach his fellow-citizen or his brother, saying, "Know Adonai!" For all will know me, from the least of them to the greatest, because I will be merciful toward their wickednesses and remember their sins no more.’ Hebrews 8:1-12
“Of a better covenant”
This Greek word used, here, properly denotes “an arrangement, or ordering” of things; and in the Scriptures is employed to describe the arrangement which God has made to secure the maintenance of His worship on earth, and the salvation of people. This same Greek word is used in both the Septuagint and in the Brit Hadasha for “the covenant” which God makes with people (IN OTHER WORDS, “THE ARRANGEMENT”). The word which “properly” means “a covenant”, “compact or contract” - συνθήκη sunthēkē - “suntheke” is not used in the Brit Hadasha..
What can we understand from this? Very simply, the “new covenant” is really nothing new at all. There remains one covenant since the beginning. Adonai, in His infinite wisdom, has seen fit to rearrange the order of a few things so that the flow or function of the Body would be more effective. Just as the furniture in your home can be rearranged to ease the flow of traffic or to allow a new activity in the same room, the terms and essentials of the covenant can be rescheduled by Adonai to more directly address the need. Just as the new furniture arrangement does not convey the purchase of a new sofa, the renewing of the covenant does not imply replacement of, or even additions to, the original terms.
After many years of obedience training under the sacrificial system of the covenant, the people of the earth needed to move on to other lessons. Obedience was never stricken from the covenant, but became a simple expectation of individual practice. A different aspect of the same covenant needed to be learned by the group. Sharp skills in this area needed to be developed. The new focus lesson became the pardon of sin and the more internal workings of the heart and the spirit. As the workings of the flesh are temporary and fading, the workings of the spirit are eternal. In this way these are “better” or, more accurately, “higher”. {**For example: when we graduate from elementary school to high school –the learning becomes more advanced, but does not allow us to simply forget or reject the lessons from grade school – instead, we are expected to build on those earlier lessons in order to achieve a higher level of knowledge & understanding}
"Jew & Gentile One in Messiah" "the biblical truth lives here" No Talmud (rabbinic teachings) and No Christian doctrine. Straight biblical teachings. "The Route 66 Highway"...Genesis to Revelation the only perfect word of God!
Always remember Yeshua the Messiah is the same Yesterday, Today and Forever. He was never a Catholic, Baptist, Evangelical, Pentecostal or any of the other 1,500 denominations of Christianity He is, and always will be a Jew. And all the Talmidim (Disciples) were Messianic Jews
