775 CHALLENGES, STORMS AND FIRE

Scripture: Ya’akov (James) 1:2-6 when you face various kinds of CHALLENGES.

SYNOPSIS: I watched a movie this week that had me thinking all week. What happens to a follower of Messiah when they face challenges, storms and fire? Where does the trial or the challenge come from; YEHOVAH or satan? What happens if we pray and the KING does not grant our petition on our timetable? Should we stop talking to HIM and do our own thing? Today’s HaShabbat lesson is about how to build your character, faith & holiness, through challenges, storms & fire. 

HASHABBAT LESSON 1: CHALLENGES. Ya’akov (James) 1:2-6 when you face various kinds of CHALLENGES. Yo’el (Joel) 2:12-14 He may turn, change his mind and leave a blessing. Ya’akov (James) 1:2-6. D’varim (Deut) 32:15-17 They roused him to jealousy. Ya’akov (James) 1:2-6. 1 Kefa (Pt) 1:3-7 to experience grief in various trials.

HASHABBAT LESSON 2: STORMS. Nachum (Nahum) 1:1-7 he takes care of those who take refuge in him. Psalm 57:1 find refuge in the shadow of your wings until the storms have passed.

HASHABBAT LESSON 3: FIRE. Z'kharyah (Zech) 13:7-9 I will refine them as silver is refined.

 

 

 

HASHABBAT LESSON 1: CHALLENGES. Ya’akov (James) 1:2-6 when you face various kinds of CHALLENGES.

TEMPTATION – TRIAL: G3986 πειρασμός peirasmos Thayer Definition: 1) an experiment, attempt, trial, proving 2) the trial of man’s fidelity, integrity, virtue, constancy 3) an enticement to sin, temptation, whether arising from the desires or from the outward circumstances 4) of the condition of things, or a mental state, by which we are enticed to sin, or to a lapse from the faith and holiness 5) adversity, affliction, trouble: sent by God and serving to test or prove one’s character, faith, holiness

Yo’el (Joel) 2:12-14 He may turn, change his mind and leave a blessing. 

Joe 2:12  "Yet even now," says YEHOVAH, "turn to me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping and lamenting." Joe 2:13  Tear your heart, not your garments; and turn to YEHOVAH your God. For he is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger, rich in grace, and willing to change his mind about disaster. Joe 2:14  Who knows? He may turn, change his mind and leave a blessing behind him, [enough for] grain offerings and drink offerings to present to YEHOVAH your God.

Deu 32:15  "But Yeshurun grew fat and kicked (you grew fat, thick, gross!). He abandoned God his Maker; he scorned the Rock, his salvation. Deu 32:16  They roused him to jealousy with alien gods, provoked him with abominations. Deu 32:17  They sacrificed to demons, non-gods, gods that they had never known, new gods that had come up lately, which your ancestors had not feared.

GENUINENESS – PROOF: G1383 δοκίμιον dokimion Thayer Definition: 1) the proving 2) that by which something is tried or proved, a test

 

HASHABBAT LESSON 2: STORMS. Nachum (Nahum) 1:1-7 he takes care of those who take refuge in him.

Nah 1:2  YEHOVAH is a jealous and vengeful God. YEHOVAH avenges; he knows how to be angry. YEHOVAH takes vengeance on his foes and stores up wrath for his enemies.

STRONGHOLD: H4581 מעוז / מעז / מעז / מעוּז mâ‛ôz / mâ‛ûz BDB Definition: 1) place or means of safety, protection, refuge, stronghold 2) place of safety, fastness, harbour, stronghold 3) refuge (of God) (figuratively)

 

REFUGE - H2620 חסה châsâh BDB Definition: 1) to seek refuge, flee for protection 2) to put trust in (God), confide or hope in (God) (figuratively)

 

Psalm 57:1 find refuge in the shadow of your wings until the storms have passed.

Psa 57:1  [For the leader. Set to "Do Not Destroy." By David, a mikhtam, when he fled from Sha'ul into the cave:] Show me favor, God, show me favor; for in you I have taken refuge. Yes, I will find refuge in the shadow of your wings until the storms have passed. 

 

STORMS – DESTRUCTION: H1942 הוּה havvâh BDB Definition: 1) desire (in bad sense) 2) chasm (figuratively of destruction) 3) engulfing ruin, destruction, calamity

 

WINGS: H3671 כּנף kânâph BDB Definition: wing, extremity, edge, winged, border, corner, shirt

 

HASHABBAT LESSON 3: FIRE. Z'kharyah (Zech) 13:7-9 I will refine them as silver is refined.

Zec 13:9  That third part I will bring through the fire; I will refine them as silver is refined, I will test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, 'This is my people' and they will say, 'YEHOVAH is my God.' "

 

CHALLENGES SHOULD MAKE YOU STRONGER

 

STORMS SHOULD DRAW YOU CLOSER

 

AND FIRE WILL MAKE YOU PURER!!!
