995 What is the first commandment

 

Scripture: B’resheet (Gen) 1:1-31 the order of 22.

 

SYNOPSIS: today’s lesson is going to start off in one area and go off in another. There is a very definitive order to the WORD. There are things that must happen before others. What was the very first law given by YEHOVAH? Are you sure you know? Is it this: Exo 20:2 א "I am Adonai your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the abode of slavery. No, it is not. What is it then? If that is not the first what is? What are the first 5 commandments spoken by YEHOVAH?

 

BIBLE VERSES: B’resheet (Gen) 1:1-31 the order of 22. B’resheet (Gen) 1:1-26 the 22 categories. B’resheet (Gen) 2:16-17 the very first mitzvot given to man. B’resheet (Gen) 2:3 is this first spoken to us. B’resheet (Gen) 3:17 you now are required to work. B’resheet (Gen) 2:24 this does not become a law until you leave your father’s house. B’resheet (Gen) 4:1-5 is this a commandment. B’resheet (Gen) 4:7 the 4^th spoken commandment is? B’resheet (Gen) 6:13-14 make a place that separates you from the world of evil. B’resheet (Gen) 9:2-4 #6 we are no longer vegetarians. B’resheet (Gen) 9:5-6 #7 do not murder.

Gen 1:1  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

B’resheet (Gen) 1:1-26 the 22 categories.

Gen 1:1  In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Gen 1:3  Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. 

 

3 "Let there be light"

 

Gen 1:5  God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. So there was evening, and there was morning, one day. 

 

4 the light Day 5 the darkness he called Night.

 

Gen 1:6  God said, "Let there be a dome in the middle of the water; let it divide the water from the water." 

 

6 the dome 7 the water

 

Gen 1:9  God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered together into one place, and let dry land appear," and that is how it was. 

 

8 the dry land Earth

 

 

Gen 1:10  God called the dry land Earth, the gathering together of the water he called Seas, and God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:11  God said, "Let the earth put forth grass, seed-producing plants, and fruit trees, each yielding its own kind of seed-bearing fruit, on the earth"; and that is how it was. 

 

10 grass, 11 seed-producing plants, 12 fruit trees

 

Gen 1:14  God said, "Let there be lights in the dome of the sky to divide the day from the night; let them be for signs, seasons, days and years; 

 

13 signs, 14 seasons 15 days 16 years

 

Gen 1:16  God made the two great lights—the larger light to rule the day and the smaller light to rule the night—and the stars. 

 

17 sun 18 moon 19 the stars. 

 

Gen 1:20  God said, "Let the water swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open dome of the sky." 

 

20 the water swarm with swarms of living creatures,

 

Gen 1:24  God said, "Let the earth bring forth each kind of living creature—each kind of livestock, crawling animal and wild beast"; and that is how it was. 

 

21 land animals

 

Gen 1:26  Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in the likeness of ourselves; and let them rule over the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the animals, and over all the earth, and over every crawling creature that crawls on the earth."

B’resheet (Gen) 2:16-17 the very first mitzvot given to man.

Gen 2:16  Adonai, God, gave the man this order: "You may freely eat from every tree in the garden 

Gen 2:17  except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. You are not to eat from it, because on the day that you eat from it, it will become certain that you will die." 

 

B’resheet (Gen) 2:3 is this first spoken to us.

Gen 2:3  God blessed the seventh day and separated it as holy; because on that day God rested from all his work which he had created, so that it itself could produce. 

 

Gen 2:16-17

 

ORDER/COMMAND: H6680 צוה tsâvâh BDB Definition: to command, charge, give orders, lay charge, give charge to, order

 

Gen 2:17 

 

B’resheet (Gen) 3:17 you now are required to work.

Gen 3:17  To Adam he said, "Because you listened to what your wife said and ate from the tree about which I gave you the order, 'You are not to eat from it,' the ground cursed on your account; you will work hard to eat from it as long as you live. 

 

WORK HARD/TOIL: H6093 עצּבון ‛itstsâbôn BDB Definition: 1) pain, labour, hardship, sorrow, toil

B’resheet (Gen) 2:24 this does not become a law until you leave your father’s house.

Gen 2:24  This is why a man is to leave his father and mother and stick with his wife, and they are to be one flesh. 

 

ref. Num 1:3 twenty years old and over who are subject to military service in Isra'el. You and Aharon are to enumerate them company by company. 

Gen 3:9  Adonai, God, called to the man, "Where are you?"

B’resheet (Gen) 4:1-5 is this a commandment.

Gen 4:1  The man had sexual relations with Havah his wife; she conceived, gave birth to Kayin [acquisition] and said, "I have acquired a man from Adonai."

B’resheet (Gen) 4:7 the 4^th spoken commandment is?

Gen 4:7  If you are doing what is good, shouldn't you hold your head high? And if you don't do what is good, sin is crouching at the door—it wants you, but you can rule over it." 

 

RULE/MASTER: H4910 משׁל mâshal BDB Definition: to rule, have dominion, reign

 

B’resheet (Gen) 6:13-14 make a place that separates you from the world of evil.

Gen 6:13  God said to Noach, "The end of all living beings has come before me, for because of them the earth is filled with violence. I will destroy them along with the earth. 

Gen 6:14  Make yourself an ark of gofer-wood; you are to make the ark with rooms and cover it with pitch both outside and inside. 

 

B’resheet (Gen) 9:2-4 #6 we are no longer vegetarians.

Gen 9:2  The fear and dread of you will be upon every wild animal, every bird in the air, every creature populating the ground, and all the fish in the sea; they have been handed over to you. 

Gen 9:3  Every moving thing that lives will be food for you; just as I gave you green plants before, so now I give you everything— 

Gen 9:4  only flesh with its life, which is its blood, you are not to eat. 

 

B’resheet (Gen) 9:5-6 #7 do not murder.

Gen 9:5  I will certainly demand an accounting for the blood of your lives: I will demand it from every animal and from every human being. I will demand from every human being an accounting for the life of his fellow human being. 

Gen 9:6  Whoever sheds human blood, by a human being will his own blood be shed; for God made human beings in his image.
