33:1–36:35
Num 35:9 Adonai said to Moshe, Num 35:10 "Tell the people of Isra'el, 'When you
cross the Yarden into the land of Kena`an, Num 35:11 you are to designate for
yourselves cities that will be cities of refuge for you, to which anyone who
kills someone by mistake can flee. Num 35:12 These cities are to be a refuge for
you from the dead person's next-of-kin, who might otherwise avenge his kinsman's
death by slaying the killer prior to his standing trial before the community.
Parash main focus is mistakes both intentional and inadvertent what to do about
them. In chapter 33 we see the stages of the journey. Knowing your history so
you follow the good road. Knowing your history, so you can see the mistakes of
the past and avoid the same ones. In chapter 33 Yehovah warns His people to
remove all the people of the land or they will become thorns in your eyes.
