The City Gate Messianic Bible Study
Mat 5:14 "You are light for the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Mat 5:15 Likewise, when people light a lamp, they don't cover it with a bowl but put it on a lampstand, so that it shines for everyone in the house. Mat 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they may see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.
The word for light in v16 is the same as v14
LIGHT: G5457 φῶς phōs Thayer Definition: 1) light 2) emitted by a lamp. “SPIRITUAL” 2) God is light because light has the extremely delicate, subtle, pure, brilliant quality 3) of truth and its knowledge, together with the spiritual purity associated with it 4) the power of understanding especially moral and spiritual truth
