P022 A Messianic rabbi’s story & what names mean to God
There is a song by a pop group from the 1990’s called the Talking Heads. In one of their songs the lead sing says “How did I get here, this is not my life”. I never thought or desired to become a Messianic rabbi. It could not have been farther from my mind. Not one single person had ever witnessed to me. I had friends who were catholic but the topic of religion had never come up in our friendship. I knew about “Jesus” thought He was a nice person had some nice things to say but never really gave Him any thought about being God. Therefore, one day Yeshua came to pay me a visit. The rest of the account will be revealed in the video.
The other part of this message is all about names. The reason I tied together these two subjects for this teaching is, even though I did not know I would become a follower of the Jewish Messiah Yeshua. Even though I did not know He would call me to become a Messianic rabbi, He did know the plan for my life. That is where the study of names and their Hebraic meaning is profound. My name of Andrew means messenger, my Hebrew name of Hanun means joy, and now that I am a Messianic rabbi I bring you a message of joy and peace. We will study the names in Genesis chapter 5 and see how the plan of salvation is found in the names meanings from Adom to Noach.
